We hope you guys enjoyed the exclusive first listen for Mayday Parade's cover of "When I Grow Up"! We know a lot of you may have missed hearing it on Mozes or on Myspace but the song will return Monday when MTV.com premieres the WHOLE ALBUM a week before the release date!

So as you know, we decided to record "When I Grow Up" by the Pussycat Dolls. Originally we were going to do "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, but the more we practiced it the more we disliked where the song was going.  So a couple of days before we headed into the studio we decided to change the song, which turned out for the best.  When heading into the studio we weren't really sure how the song was going to turn out, we hoped for the best, but with only a few days of practice we had no idea what the final result would be.

We recorded the song in Valdosta, GA at Earthsound Recording, with the same producer/engineer (Lee Dyess) who recorded our E.P. "Tales Told By Dead Friends".  He is an awesome guy, and he really brings out the best in us, so we knew we were in for a good time.  Upon arriving we got down to business, and with Lee to help point us in the right direction, we recorded a great cover song in just 2 days.

YouTube channel owners Binks and Burry have signed on to help us find the ultimate lip dub champion!  To enter, select a team, then post a video response of yourself lip syncing to the track Toxic by A Static Lullaby avaliable now on their album Rattlesnake and out soon on Punk Goes Pop 2!  The contest is open from now until midnight March 7th PST.  First, second and third place finalists will be selected by the channel owners Burry and Binks. First place winners receive: - a signed A Static Lullaby picture - a copy of Punk Goes Pop 2 - a personalized prize pack from Binks and Burry - a week long feature spot on your team's YouTube Channel The two first place finalists will then go head to head for A Static Lullaby to choose the ultimate lip dub champion.  The winning video will be featured on the A Static Lullaby & Punk Goes Pop 2 MySpaces. "We are super excited to be a part of Punk Goes Pop 2.  We had a blast recording "Red Light Pledge" for the Punk Goes Acoustic  2 so we jumped at the chance to record a song for this one.

The interesting thing is that even though we've been a band for 9 years, we've never really done any covers.  The only one we did was a cover of Lifetime's "Rodeo Clown" for a tribute album that never came out.  Most bands start out doing some covers before they write their own songs, but we jumped right into originals.

When we had to choose a song, there was a million we talked about doing, but we all agreed that "Apologize" would be rad.  It was a song we all secretly rocked out to, a total guilty pleasure.  It's super catchy, it's the kind of song you hear once and it's instantly stuck in your head.  I also met One Republic one time and they were really nice.  I hope they don't think we ruined their song :).

I'm super excited to hear what our friends bands have done, especially Bayside and A Day To Remember.  I can't wait to get this CD in my hands.

We had so much fun recording this that we decided to do some other covers as well.  We're almost done recording our new album and we're going to have some B-Side cover songs as well.  Check that out on March 31st!
